Orca Whale Presentation by Gene Helfman

Discover the captivating world of Orca whales with Gene Helfman, a renowned animal behaviorist, conservation biologist, and novelist. With a PhD in Ecology from Cornell University and a distinguished career at the University of Georgia, Gene has authored numerous books and scientific papers focusing on fish and marine conservation. He has spent decades underwater, challenging conventional wisdom about fish intelligence.
In his efforts to reach a broader audience, Gene has penned two acclaimed books: “Beyond the Human Realm,” a poignant novel exploring love, loss, and redemption among killer whales, and “FINS, A Novel of Relentless Satire,” a clever satire on shark exploitation in horror/comedy genres.
Gene resides on Lopez Island, Washington State, with his wife Dr. Judy Meyer, an aquatic ecologist. Don’t miss this opportunity to join us at the Orcas Senior Center on Wednesday, August 28th at 1pm. Everyone is welcome to attend!
